We will be writing at least 3,500 to 4,000 words of final copy, plus rough drafts and revisions of at least another 3,500-4000 words, making a total of over 7,000-8,000 words, not counting your personal journal entries, summaries of essays, cultural activities, log of research activities, and other writing assignments.

Everyone must have a conference with me for questions and/or to show me that you understand everything marked and how you plan to make it more effective. A, B, C papers correct grammatical errors, spelling, and some sentences or paragraphs. D and F papers must rewrite completely, revising for organization and/or more support materials.

I will not accept any term paper without OUTLINE, ROUGH DRAFT, SOURCE MATERIAL (bibliography cards and note cards and/or photocopies highlighting all information used in any way (including both paraphrases and exact quotations, and everything downloaded from Internet sources).

Regarding appeals to authority: You must use up-to-date and appropriate (qualified) sources, must have at least one book and one magazine (journal) article. (See me about very rare exceptions.) A qualified source is 1) informed in the field, 2) unbiased, and 3) recognized by other experts in the field as reliable and respected.
Your preliminary bibliography should list quite a few magazines, books, and/or net sources, and your final bibliography should be scaled down to just what is appropriate for your paper.
ATTENDANCE: Departmental policy states that more than 3 absences is automatic failure for a class that meets two times a week.
