If you plan to Commute
Eastern Kentucky University requires that all single full-time undergraduate students live on campus unless they meet one of following criteria:
1) 21 years of age or older by the first day of class OR
2) Have attempted 60 or more credit hours OR
3) Have completed four or more academic semesters living on campus.
Exception is made for students residing with their parents in their parent's principle residence within 50 miles of the Richmond campus as determined by an official state map. Students who wish to live with their parents need to complete the Verification of Living with Parent's Form and it to the Office of University Housing at the address listed below.
In certain circumstances a student may be allowed to commute even though they do not meet the specified criteria. Students wishing to request such an exemption must complete an exemption request by completing a Request for Housing Exemption Form. Please complete the form and submit it with the requested supporting documentation to the Office of University Housing at the address listed below.
To avoid possible complications with student billing, it is suggested that the necessary paperwork by submitted before July 15 for anyone trying tog et approved for the Fall semester. Unapproved Commuters who have not been officially exempted from the residency requirement will be assessed the lowest price residence hall fee and board fees where appropriate.
