Application for Outstanding Senior Award in the Department of English and Theatre

The Outstanding Senior Award recognizes one graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship, leadership, and promise in the English and Theatre Department at Eastern Kentucky University. English and Theatre majors who will graduate in May, August, or December 2007 with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 are eligible to apply for the award. If you meet these requirements and would like to be considered for the $300 cash award, complete the steps below.

1. Write a letter that discusses any activities and personal characteristics that might qualify you for this award. You might include scholarly interests and honors, papers or presentations, or other exemplary academic achievements. In addition, provide information about any leadership activities you may have undertaken during your college career-academic or non-academic, at Eastern or in the community. Finally, briefly sketch your career plans and goals after graduation. Address this letter to Alan Hunt, English Department, Case Annex 467.

2. Request recommendations from two Eastern Kentucky University professors who strongly support your application. At least one of these recommendations, two if possible, must be from a faculty member of the Department of English and Theatre. These letters should be sent to Alan Hunt, English Department, Case Annex 467. They must be received by 4:00 p.m., Friday, March 23, 2007.

3. Supply the information requested at the bottom of this page and submit it, along with your application letter, to Alan Hunt, Case Annex 467, by 4:00 p.m., Friday, March 23, 2007.
