Scenario 1

As you probably already know, your Social Security num= ber is used at Lincoln County High School<= /st1:PlaceType> as your student identification number.&nbs= p; As a result of the this policy, your Social Security number is print= ed every time your teacher prints grades reports, class rosters, etc.  You, as a student, use the last fo= ur digits of your Social Security number to charge your lunch. 

 

Scenario 2

As you may already know, Lincoln County High School has a s= trict dress code.  The school’s policy states that students are not allowed to wear tight-fitted clothing, midriffs, short skirts or shorts, clothing that discriminates, or clothing = that contains profanity.  If you are caught breaking the dress code, you may have to wear clothing provided by t= he Youth Services Center, or you have= to call your parents to bring you appropriate clothing.  You may also face administrative disciplinary action such as In-School Suspension (ISS) or suspension.

 

Assignment

First, choose one of the Scenarios (1 or 2) that inter= est you.  Then write a one-page personal-business letter to 1 of the following people:  Dr. Teresa Wallace, Superintendent= of Lincoln County Schools; Mr. Tom Blankenship, Lincoln County Board of Educat= ion Chairman; Mr. Ty Howard, Site Base Council Chairman and Principal of Lincoln County High School; or Mr. Mark Upchurch, Student Council Member.  Describe your feelings concerning = the policy you have chosen (scenario 1 or 2).

 

In your letter:

First, analyze the current situation of the policy.  Next, take a stand on the current policy.  Give three reasons wh= y you support or oppose the current policy.  If you support the current policy, give examples, you have seen, that explain why the policy is effective.  If you oppose the current policy, provide explanations on how the po= licy could be modified so the issue could be more effective.

 

Remember to use proper personal-business letter format= .  Your letter should be formatted correctly and have no spelling or grammar mistakes.  Remember, the person who will read= your letter helps set all policies at Lincoln County High School.
