Handout Assignment:

 

            The following assignment is one that will allow the students to create a letter= to the county board requesting a new club sport, or new school funded team.  It is in regards to an Ultimate Fr= isbee lesson.  The proposal will sho= w the students knowledge of the sport and the healthy affects that it has on the body.  Also, the students will= work in pairs or groups to teach the cooperative teamwork they learned by participating in the Ultimate Frisbee lessons.  The proposal will also show the st= udents knowledge in the physical movement required. 

The assignment is as follows:<= /i>

a= )      Explain the reason for the proposal of a new team sport.

b= )      Relate to how this new sport is beneficial to students, faculty, and school.

c= )      Tell how it is be successful and why it would be a great idea for this school.

d= )      Use prior information from the lesson that I presented in class.

e= )      Use examples of strategies, rules, and reasons for the game.

 

Remember that you are writi= ng this to the school board and your site base council.  The letters will be present to the= PTO, and Site Base Council at the conclusion of the week.  I will check grammar, spelling, and answer any questions that you have regarding information for the letter. 

Scoring Guide:

 

4.     Student demonstrates knowledge of movement concepts and how they would relate to the lifetime physical fitness.  Students st= ate benefits of an extracurricular activity to the school and to the students.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>  Also, uses prior knowledge to expr= ess these benefits. The students will also use correct spelling and grammar.

 

3.     Students briefly descr= ibe the movement concepts and how they relate to lifetime physical fitness.  The benefits to the school and stu= dents are not explained clearly and using prior knowledge. However, the proposal = has correct grammar and spelling.

 

2.     Students just tell why= they want the team and what it would mean to the school and students.  The proposal does not follow, and = has grammar and spelling problems.
