Making Sense of Multiculturalism

Unit Culminating Activity

The “Making Sense of Multiculturalism” unit has helped us explore varying ethnicities and the role of specific influences (family, friends, environment, etc.) on the individual within those ethnicities.  Reflect on the different cultures, values, and beliefs that we’ve addressed in The House on Mango Str= eet, various short stories, internet research, and class discussion to deter= mine the diversity among and within different ethnic groups.

Apply what you’ve learned!

Your task: You are trying to cha= rter a Diversity Club here at the middle school.  To convince people that this is a = club worth starting you will present your idea publicly. Since the mission of th= is club would be to promote awareness and tolerance of varying ethnicities and unique individuals, your presentation must be informative as well as convincing. Chose the form you believe would be the best for your purpose. = Be sure to consider the audience of each form!
