- Think about how Chaucer used the
narrator to describe each pilgrim on the pilgrimage, consider the
narrator’s overall impression of each pilgrim. When doing so also consider y=
our
thoughts on stereotyping and judging others based on first
impression. For your
assignment write an editorial or an informational article (with
references) for the school newspaper based on your experiences with
stereotyping or judgments made on first impression and how it affected=
you
or those involved. You m=
ay
want to parallel your own experiences with those of the pilgrims in th=
e Canterbury T=
ales or
discuss the positive or negative affects that people experience as a
result of such stereotyping.
You will be required to present your piece to the class.

- Reflect on the Pardoner’s =
Tale
and the writing/storytelling components that were used in the tale. For your assignment put yours=
elf
into the shoes of one of the pilgrims and rewrite that pilgrim’s
tale to apply to you. An=
other
option is to create yourself as a totally new pilgrim going to Canterbury an=
d write
a completely original tale to be told. This will need to be complete=
d in
short story format. Thes=
e will
be binded into a classroom version of the Canterbury Tales. To gain the sense of the tale=
being
orally shared you will be required to present it to the class.
