Welcome to ECO 394,  International Economics!

Hi!  I'm Fred Ruppel, your instructor.  You may have seen my homepage on your way here.  I'll be re-building this site weekly as the semester goes on.  You'll be able to view and download the class syllabus (no excuses for ever losing it now!) and my class notes for each chapter (see below), plus I'll provide you with links to some interesting sites.  The first of these will be the web-link to your textbook (Carbaugh).  Check it out and see what they've got on the website.

I've also got some websites for U.S. and international economic information.  Two of the major sources of U.S. economic data are the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Economic Report of the President.  You can search on each of these websites for data on the U.S. economy.  We will also be studying some global economic issues.  There are some good links for international data.  The CIA publishes country-specific information in its CIA Factbook.   The Factbook is a good source to begin a "case study" of a country.  One of the best sources for international economic data is the World Bank's World Development Indicators.  Much of the focus here is on poverty and worldwide economic development.

Class Details and Lecture Notes for Textbook Chapters

Each of the following links will take you to a file that was built using WordPerfect7.0 software.  When
you click on the link, you will not see the file contents directly.  Instead, your browser will prompt you to save the file to your diskettte/hard drive or (in some cases) to open the file.  Whether you choose to save the file or open it, word processing software (preferably WordPerfect or Microsoft Word) must be loaded onto the receiving machine for you to access the file.  All the lecture notes are in outline form.  Some formatting may be lost in the transfer.
