Dr. Awang received a Bachelor of Science in Administrative Services Training, a Master of Science in Business Education, and a Ph. D. in Workforce Education and Development with a concentration in management from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

She has received numerous honors and awards for her research at the state and national levels. Her research interests are in the areas of workplace and technology skills, corporate training, global communication, and business curriculum development. She has published articles in journals such as the Delta Pi Epsilon, Information Technology and Learning Performance, Business Education Forum, and Kentucky Business Education Association. In addition to teaching business communication, managerial report, introduction to business, word processing applications, integrated office software, desktop publishing, and web design, she is involved with the Curriculum, Information Technology, Teacher Education Assessment, Diversity, International Education and Academic Program Review Committees for the University.
